Generative AI and the Humanities SpringerBriefs in AI-Enhanced Language Research
The Generative AI and the Humanities book series examines the integration of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) into humanities research. As large language models and other generative technologies become increasingly embedded in academic practice, this series provides a space for investigating their impact across a range of disciplines, including literature, translation studies, linguistics, media, and cultural analysis. The series is organized around four primary areas of focus: methodological innovation that brings together computational and interpretive techniques; empirical applications that demonstrate how GenAI tools are used in practice; cross-cultural integration that explores uses of GenAI across linguistic and cultural contexts; and societal impact, particularly in relation to education, cultural heritage, and public discourse. It invites interdisciplinary contributions that engage critically with issues of data quality, algorithmic bias, and research ethics. An open-access subseries, SpringerBriefs in AI-Enhanced Language Research, is included to support shorter-format studies on the application of GenAI in language-related fields such as corpus linguistics, language education, and translation technology. The series is edited by Dechao Li and Kanglong Liu, both from the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. It aims to document current developments and support ongoing dialogue at the intersection of artificial intelligence and the humanities.
